As all of us know Our Country going to celebrate 73rd Independence day this year. So, what you know about Independence day of INDIA here I am going to discussing some unique and interesting things(facts) about Independence.
➤Did you know India's freedom movement was led by Mahatma Gandhi? But when the country got independence on August 15, 1947, they did not participate in this celebration.
➤Jawaharlal Nehru gave the historic speech 'Trist with Destiny' on midnight of 14 August in Viceroy Lodge (which is today known as Rashtrapati Bhavan)
➤As all of us know that On every Independence Day, the Indian Prime Minister hoists the flag from the Red Fort, but it did not happen on August 15, 1947. According to a research paper of the Lok Sabha secretariat, Nehru hoisted the flag on 16 August 1947 from the Red Fort.
➤The borderline between India and Pakistan was not determined until 15 August. The decision was made on 17 August by the announcement of the Redcliffe Line which puts boundaries of India and Pakistan.
➤Did you know Apart from India, 15 August is also the independence day of three other countries? South Korea became independent from Japan on August 15, 1945. Bahrain gained independence from Britain on 15 August 1971, and France declared the Congo independent on 15 August 1960.
➤ On August 15, 1854, the East India Railway ran the first passenger train from Calcutta to Hooghly although it was officially stared in 1855.
➤ It is very interesting to know that the price of 10 grams of gold was Rs 88.62 at the time of independence
➤ We all know that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India. But he was not selected after the election. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had the got majority of votes but Nehru didn’t want to play second in command to anyone and also Mahatma Gandhi had a soft corner for Nehru so he requested Sardar Patel to step down.
➤ As we all know the first version of the current national flag was made by Pingali Venkayya at Bezwada in 1921. but It was made up of two colors-red and green-representing the two major communities. Gandhiji suggested the addition of a white strip to represent the remaining communities of India and the spinning wheel to symbolize the progress of the Nation.
